Change is a constant in today's world. It can have large or small impacts on our work or personal lives and it can be within or beyond our control. Change involves leaving behind something we are comfortable with and moving on to something new and perhaps less familiar. For many individuals, different types of stress can be a natural part of the change process.
With change and stress comes the need to be resilient. Resiliency is the abililty to be flexible or adaptable and to maintain persistence in seeking future goals. It is the ability to bounce back, manage stress, and not be discouraged even in the face of change or adversity. Our individual perceptions define the boundaries of our reality and develop the behaviors we use to be successful within those boundaries. Our individual perceptions are a key factor in our ability to be resilient.
